Quips & Quotes...
1. My wife made a statement today, the third day of Barrack Obama's presidency that was heartfelt. She was watching the television, and it was the segment of a morning show that listed and described (with a short narrative) people who have made an impression on us, but have died. The list included soldiers who have recently died. She was crying. She never looks in my direction when she cries. It's a private and invisible world to her when she shows her emotions. However, she remembered me telling her, she would make a great politician....a person of the people. This morning she looked in my direction and said..."I will never make a good politician, because I cry", eluding to the perception that showing one's emotions is not acceptable in politics or business (never let them see you sweat). I paused for a moment before responding, and waited for her to dry her eyes. Finally, I said "on the contrary honey, what this country, and the world needs now, more than ever, is more politicians who cry".
2. We must never let one human die without a farewell. We must never let them leave without telling them, the rest of us, soon to follow, recognize they were here.
3. A recent pole/report showed that every year, 8% of people who believed, are leaving the church. And the church is in the fight of it's life to regain and maintain control of the worlds ignorant for societies sake. As usual, the church is looking for new and innovative ways to control information. The standard of teaching fear as the wealthy dictated them to do, just doesn't ring home anymore. Many prisons of despair prove to be more compassionate than kneeling in the barren dirt and praying. The teachings have shifted from 'the lord is returning with a bunch of guys on horseback, and you're going to be in a world of shit if you don't believe" to " no one is coming, and now you will pay when you die". The banner had to change, after all, how long is a long time to wait. How much screaming do we need to hear until mercy appears? They had to find a way to threaten people without leaving them the option to prove it false; hence, the phrase "when you die" is optimum. Thanks to honest, compassionate individuals living in controlling countries, 'punishment' as we once knew it is virtually non-existent. In prison you get computer training, clothing, outstanding food, health care, protection, and the list goes on. It will be interesting to see what kind of heinous examples of torture and hell the church comes up with to scare human beings into submission this time. Instead of being hung from church rafters by crude chains smelling your skin burning by searing red hot pokers, while listening to the screams of our women and children being violated, there is always the possibility they will win the masses over with love and compassion this time. Doubtful, but hey, one can pray. Of course they will have to completely restructure the church and come out with another 'new testament' to reflect the new, radical mission statement. If they ever recover at all, it will be because of the vicious groups in the mid east killing the innocents who don't practice the enforced beliefs. It's simply a reflection of the crusades perpetuated by the church, killing and torturing the innocents into submission; unfortunately, it doesn't always work. People have the internet, and can actually read and think for themselves this time around. There is a new wave in America, only these stadiums seat thousands...the difference....you have to pay to get in...and pay for them to pray for you. Kind of neat, capitalism...huh? If the church doesn't survive the 'new' human consciousness, fat sweaty pedophiles and torturers of humans fearing obscurity will have to find a new home; watch for them, they will always be with us, and most likely protected by those they work for.
4. Diversity needs to be viewed as a good thing. Even in religions. The beliefs of individuals are as diverse as their origins are many. A tacit relationship between all of us is not only expected but it is guaranteed by an individuals existence in our universe. Colors, sizes, cultures, languages, and not the least, beliefs are diversities we should, as a species embrace with our exquisite curiosity and natural hunger to know. Indifference should not be viewed with impunity. Although a right of existence to do so exists, to do so in a concerted effort to separate a species of life from that species as a whole, in my opinion ........ is an effort to weaken the very fabric of that species. All attributes of a diverse species must be protected if not cherished. Is it not our diversity that has guaranteed our survival? An enemy can study and attack one element of our species and perhaps control that element; however, to consider the attack and control of thousands of diverse attributes is folly. To hear a different language is to be there, to see a different color is not to ignore the difference, but to cherish that difference for it is that difference that makes you special. Without diversity, where do we have to look for comparison? A free society, a free government must reflect those who it governs. If possible, a society with 10% this and 20% that, 40% those, and 20% these and finally 5% of ifs, and 5% ands, must have a government that reflects those percentages in order to speak for the people. Our evolution as a species is the eliminator of weakness, we as a species cannot forget the difference between weakness and difference; the two are not interchangeable. One needs our love and help, the other needs our compassion and elation. The two will always be with us; but let's embrace them as attributes of a species, and not something to define and eliminate because of ignorance. Our species must stand as one, not fragmented examples of degrees of control and differing interpretations of that which is us. We will need our diversity more than ever in our future, and we must as a species embrace the challenges ahead as a species, not as the remaining fragments of a vicious, ignorant past evolution. Learn from our mistakes, and evolve from our triumphs as a species. We can do this. Embrace change and our future evolution, for even the tears of the simple among us will dry over time. Do not dwell on indifference, but embrace it as a friend crossing the room; for we all recognize it to some degree. To recognize something is the first step to change.
5. I walked by a
dumpster, what construction people call a 'dinosaur dumpster' because of its
massive size and massive appetite as trash cans go. Anyway, as I walked
past this 20 long receptacle with metal doors and coated with a fine dust from
the construction site, I noticed someone had taken their finger and in the
coating of dust, posted a message for all to see on the side of this big
green behemoth. The message read
" Jesus Loves Us" in huge 16 inch letters! I felt immediate exhilaration
and at the same time a sense of wonderment came over me. Not so much
because of what the message said, not so much because of the words, but rather
because the realization hit me that someone out there amongst the rest of you
and I thought enough of mankind to tell us someone loves us! I felt
beholding and glad compassion exists within us, and more over, certainly within
that obscure author. That someone took the time to preach hope is a human
species thing. If you see this, please know, your Jesus loves you no
more than I for being you, and no less than I for being you.
6. And then there is the
spray in a can that boasts it will kill 99.999% of all household germs!
Well isn't that great! So this stuff will kill anything that crawls into
your house, on your counters, on your toilet seats, in trash cans, on floors,
shower stalls, bath tubs, etc., etc., except for one! You know, except for
that 99.999...th one! The one it leaves (can't kill) is the one I'm
worried about...how about you? Some little biologic that laughs when the
spray comes down. And the real great part, is that after you kill all its
competition, the little monsters can then multiply without any problem at all
because you killed everything else that kept this one from multiplying.
You just killed all the biologics that can kill it and contain it! So now
your counters, toilet seats, trash cans, floors, shower stalls, bath tubs, etc.,
etc., are covered from one end to the other with the one bacteria that can of
yours can't kill! Now what?
7. Bought anything lately? Yea...me too. All we need is to
prove we don't care about anything but money, can't manage our way out of a wet
paper bag, ruin peoples lives, and we can get billion dollar free money from our
government, and retire billionaires! Is America great or what?
